• A grinding or chirping sound while the gate moves. When a rack bracket weld breaks, the rack shifts out of alignment with the drive gear. The gear then chews at the rack teeth, which is a sound no gate should ever make.
• The gate shudders or stutters halfway through its travel. A cracked frame member flexes under load, and the BFT controller senses the resistance change and momentarily adjusts torque. What you feel at the gate is a stutter.
